Situated at a crossroads on the major European road networks, Limoges lies in the middle of the longest section of toll-free motorway in the whole of France.

Nearly 400,000 passengers pass through its international airport (locate on the map).

At Limoges Bénédictins train station, the Limoges Intermodal Hub (Centre Intermodal d'Echanges de Limoges - CIEL) offers direct access to all forms of land transport (train, bus, coach, taxi and car hire).

The project consists in creating a new, partially one-track, 115km high-speed rail line between Poitiers and Limoges, to be completed by 2017.

Its objectives are:

• to save time: Limoges-Paris in 2 hours, Limoges-Poitiers in 45 minutes
• to provide access to major national and European cities by high-speed train
• to offer new opportunities in terms of development, employment, image and appeal.

The project has been included in the Grenelle de l’Environnement law passed by an overwhelming majority in Parliament, and offers a rapid, safe and clean method of transport for all.
